It's official!!

2013 NYC Marathon, look out, here I come!
Today I received the confirmation email from Central Park Conservancy about joining Team Central Park on Sunday Nov 3rd!! Woo hoo!!!
I'm so happy!!

To celebrate I jogged 5 km at the gym playing with the incline button. 1-4 at 1,5 incline, 4-5 km was 1,5-4 incline.

Afterwards a short and sweet strength session.

We're getting one more gym, and the equipment for it is arriving.
Today I took a look and found a state of the art Wattbike waiting for me :)
I don't know when the new gym will be ready. I'm so excited about the Wattbike! Must remember to bring my TdF-jersey with me to work from now on LOL!

Circuit training with PT

Today I did a circuit training session with my PT. Kettlebells, push-ups, planks, squats etc. Very basic and good workout.
Got a sheet with homework marked on it, tomorrow I do my first homework assignment for this week!
Feels just like being back in school :)

Friday incline workout

On Friday I played around with the incline button on the treadmill, much more intense to jog at a slow pace with a 1,5-2 incline!
Felt good though.
25 mins of incline jogging, followed by a short and sweet strength session.

I'm back!

Things got a bit hectic at work -> no time for workouts (honest!).
Now I'm home again with plenty of time for the gym!
Today I warmed up by rowing 2 km, then jogged for 25 mins, followed by 25 mins indoor cycling. Grande Finale #plankaday , sit-ups and stretching!
Feels good to be back!!!

Workout at work


I had the afternoon off at work. I took a powernap and then I went to the gym.
21 mins speedwork on the treadmill. After that some squats (20 kg on the Smith machine), and of course #plankaday!

Meryl Streep was 45 when she did The River Wild and apparently did her own stunts.
I will waddle from Staten Island to Central Park at age 41 and 11 months.
I will do it!

Still winter

It'll take a while before all the snow and ice are gone and I can go running outdoors.



Monday PT session

I had a session with my PT on Monday.
He made me run really hard (for me) speed intervals and as icing on the cake we did a circuit training session.

Today I can move without pain-pain but I do feel yesterday's  session in my body. Which is a good thing I guess?

Sunday Cardio

6 kms on the treadmill while watching the men's biathlon relay, 3 kms rowing, #plankaday and some sit-ups.
Felt good. Can't wait for running outdoors though. Go away, snow and ice! Go away!

Basic cardio workout

Today I did a pretty basic cardio workout: 3 km jogging on the treadmill followed by 30 mins indoor cycling. Then #plankaday and stretching.
I feel good and super inspired now that I've decided to buy a charity place in NYC Marathon. No hazzle, I only need to concentrate on training and planning my trip.

Huge decision

I've made a huge decision: I'm going to get myself a charity (read: guaranteed race place) race place in 2013 ING New York City Marathon , I've contacted The Central Park Conservancy for a race place in their 2013 team.
Central Park is my #1 favourite spot in NYC so why not waddle for them?
Now I will be able to fully concentrate on training and planning, no need to think about whether I'll be accepted into the race or not, and what to do if I don't get accepted yada yada yada...

Today I had a tight schedule but managed to row 2 km, jog 5 km speed intervals, do #plankaday and some sit-ups.

Good gym workout!

2 km rowing, 5 km treadmill jogging (speed intervals), 2 km indoor cycling, 30 mins strength training.
Today I did 3 x 10 James Browns with 6 kg weights! When I first did James Brown in summer 2012 I had 3 kg weights and thought I would die. PROGRESS!

Still a while until I can go running/cycling outdoors.
Have to wait for the snow and ice to melt.
Took a walk by the river before going to the gym.

Tired body

First day at home after work.
Body still tired from work.
Managed a short workout at the gym. Rowing and jogging as warm-up. Then a full-body strength session. Abs, 4x 10 up and down plank (I'm beginning to 'get' them!), 12 kg kettlebell swing, lunges and squats with a 15 kg powerbag on my shoulders.

Gym workout!!

Today I finally had the time for a proper gym workout!
5 km jogging regular pace on the treadmill. Planks. Squats. Lunges. Stretching.
Feels GREAT!! Woo hoo!
